Tour de Romandie 2024 – Prologue
A very short prologue in Payerne.
Route
Flat as a pancake. The longest straight is 450m.

All about technique, power and aerodynamics. There are also some cobblestones hidden in there.

Weather
It will not matter a lot as they race in a city. It will be a cold night in Payerne but it will stay dry,

Contenders
Maikel Zijlaard – somewhat of a specialist. You will usually see him as a vital part in Arvid de Kleijn’s leadout. Tomorrow, you will see him risk it all for his first stage win. A top-3.
Magnus Sheffield – he is quite good at these. He did three prologues in 2023, finishing in the top-3 in all of them. I think he has a good chance at getting another top-3 tomorrow.
Ethan Hayter – I can’t tell you what is going on. In his interviews, it seems like he doesn’t really care himself. He won the prologue here in 2022, I hope to see him fight for it tomorrow, he didn’t seem very motivated in Basque Country despite finishing 18th overall.
Josef Cerny – his cup of tea. Winner of the 2023 prologue.
Luke Plapp – more riders with track record. I think he needs to take time on his rivals tomorrow. A top-10.
Tim van Dijke – he has the power for it. A top-20 in Paris-Roubaix and La Fleche Wallone, he is the real deal. A top-5.
Juan Ayuso – not really where he needs to risk his season for a stage win is it?
Ivo Oliveira – another track rider. A top-10.
Who will win?
Magnus Sheffield.
