Le Samyn 2024 Preview

The hipster race.

A slight change in the route. They removed the small detour out to west, instead they stay with the circuit.

The circuit stays the same.

We have five segments in total. Three of them are difficult.

The second segment after the finish line is this. Very poor surface.

The following is this, Rue de Wihéries.

The third is Pavé des Nonnettes.

The last chance is here, the fifth pavé is hard enough for gaps.

Not a lot of wind tomorrow, no rain and quite cold.

De Lie – he starts as the big favorite. With the team they are bringing and the route here, I would simply just ride for their star.

Eekhoff – good sprint in KBK. They have an odd team here, I can’t really tell who their best placed rider is going to be. Van Uden is a fast man but a wee bit inconsistent. I will go for Eekhoff.

Rickaert – added last minute. He doesn’t win very often, rarely he gets his own chances. However, a flat cobbled race is perfect for him. A top-10.

Kielich – a good sprinter after a day like this. It’s either him or Van Tricht.

Biermans – most in form of the Arkéa riders just now. It should be a top-10.

Rex – I really like him as an attacking option. 6th in Omloop is a great sign and he was 9th in Paris-Roubaix in 2023. He enjoys a flat race with a few cobbles.

Tiller – you can’t write him off. He is a smidge worse than in 2023 just now, as he was not as visible on the Muur or Bosberg. Still, here he will be one of the main contenders.

Wærenskjold – poor opening weekend. Usually, he climbs well for his size. Tomorrow is a much better race for him, and he will be tough to be on the line.

Hoffsteter – Mr. Samyn. Always consistent here, I think it is three podiums in the last four editions.

Pithie – he is very good. He would have given Wout a run for his money in the weekend had he not been dropped. A podium for sure.

Who will win?

Arnaud de Lie.
