Tour de France 2022 – Stage 20

A time trial awaits the riders tomorrow. I must be honest, I doubt it will change much in the GC situation.

Weather

A cross-headwind for all riders. It will once again be a hot day in France.

Contenders

Ganna – one of the big guns tomorrow. I think the double world champ is looking to redeem himself after the prologue in Copenhagen 21 days ago. He is hard to beat on a long distance, especially with the rumors of him going to attempt the hour record tomorrow.

Wout van Aert – is the only man who potentially can beat Ganna. They had a close run in Belgium last year, on a more flattish route. Tomorrow is a bit lumpier than the World Championship in 2021. It should favor of Wva, but he has used a lot of energy this Tour de France. I will assume he is still a superhuman and challenge for the stage win tomorrow.

Pogacar – will likely be far better tomorrow than many expect. He will go all out, it is his nature. I think the course is too flat for him to win, but I would not be surprised to see him on the podium.

Vingegaard – he will ride to defend the jersey and that means taking no chances. He will finish safely within the top 10 but he will not win.

Thomas – Another safe contender for a good placement but I highly doubt he will win.

Who will win?

I think Ganna will have saved something and WvA will have used fairly more energy than the Italian. Nonetheless, it is a win for Ganna tomorrow.
