Giro d’Italia 2022 – Stage 6
While I got it completely wrong, it is now time to do an effort to redeem myself for tomorrow’s stage. We will see a sprint, with all the sprinters, I am fairly certain. There are 1334 climbing meters tomorrow. The riders will be on the mainland now and quite near the coast.

The finale.
It does not get any more simple than this.

Weather
Near the cost… That always means a good chance for echelons. The wind will be too calm for it. It will be a crosswind sprint.
Contenders
Cavendish – he said it like it was after the day, a bit disappointed but they gave it a go. Tomorrow will be different and he will be fueled up with the motivation to redeem himself. He got the strongest train and the best lead-out man. He should start as the favorite.
Ewan – climbed worse than I expected. It is no shame, he has been unfortunate so far with a crash and a poor position on stage 3. Tomorrow there is another chance. I do hope they shorten his train and just bring him in a good position and let him surf the wheels himself. He is the fastest man here, he just has to start his sprint closer to the front.
Demare – took a brilliant win today without his trusted lead-out man. Nonetheless, a perfect stage for the French team. In 2020, he was unbeatable after his first win. Tomorrow, he has stronger rivals to beat. I still can’t see him win a boulevard sprint.
Gaviria – close on two occasions. He was not sure “what was wrong”, a brilliant comment. He could not get into a bigger gear. He is a serious contender for a stage win, he did very well after Richeze’s mechanical too in the final.
Girmay – is looking quick. Boxed in twice now. At one point, he will see a straight line and that is when we know just how quick he is. He will need to do a little better in the battle for position, something his team has a hard time helping him with.
Who will win?
I will once again go for Caleb Ewan. He has a strong team and they will get it right.
