Tirreno – Adriatico 2022 – Stage 1

They kick it off with a flat and easy time trial in Italy.

We only got a few turns near the intermediate time check. It is one for the powerhouses.

Weather

The weather might be important tomorrow. The first rider is down the ramp at 14:10, the last at 16:56. It is fairly similar for every rider.

Contenders

Ganna is a hard man to beat on a course like this. Beaten in UAE by Bissegger. I think the wind played a major, major role there as headwind is not very good for a big guy like Pippo.

Asgreen is starting to find his legs. I think he will be a hard man to beat in the coming classics. Nonetheless, against the clock, he would have liked a longer route.

Evenepoel is very good against the clock. Few are as aerodynamic as him. He destroyed all competition in Algarve and a long and hilly route. I think this one suits him a little less.

Pogacar will look to score some seconds on his rivals. Even given his form, I do not think he can win.

Affini loves this course. These short and flat TT’s. I expect him on the podium tomorrow!

Vingegaard will also look to gain some time against his rivals. I doubt a win is within reach.

Who will win?

I will take a win for Ganna.
